About Science in the Triangle

Adopt a Highway sign for Science in the Triangle OrgScience in the Triangle (SIT) is an evolving experiment in community science journalism and scientific-community organizing. Launched online in April 2008 to address the virtual abandonment of local research coverage in established media, SIT informs residents of the science- and technology-rich Research Triangle region of North Carolina what their neighbors in Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill are discovering.

SIT captures in one place science news, events, career opportunities and other information, encouraging participation among scientists, teachers, students and otherwise curious lifelong learners. Unlike any single science institution, organization or media outlet, SIT provides an open and expandable media platform for promoting deeper engagement of all members of its unusually vibrant community of science.
